1.- Using the word “queer” to define ourselves means taking over the term and giving positive meaning to its pejorative connotation. This gives the subversion a structure.
2.- Since the term includes anything that is not standard, it incorporates everyone. It doesn’t prescribe or require a set order, but provides a foundation for coexisting in diversity.
3.- The erotic, sensual and social role that gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender occupy in society is much disputed and always in flux. This actually lends itself to the possibility of exploring through dance new ways of communication.
4.- “Queer” people dancing Tango in any way they feel, naturally off-sets the chauvinism that, by its nature, excludes diversity from the structure of the dance itself and promotes power relationships amongst genders. Dancing like this offers the possibility of different dynamics, promoting communication as equals.
